Life & Creativity…
… after a late
Autism diagnosis
Want to get crafty together? I created a craft club!
The Creative Club is built on a pretty simple idea:
We create things here.
We learn things here.
We connect with ourselves and others here.
That’s the whole idea.
It’s relaxed. It’s messy. It’s fun.
Hi, I’m Suzy!
I’m so glad you’re here. No really, I am. I have spent a majority of my life feeling like I don’t really fit it, so it’s nice to connect.
In 2025, I was professionally diagnosed with autism. It hasn’t changed who I am, but it has helped many things finally make more sense. I’ve been married since 2012, and together we homeschool five children, several of whom are neurodivergent. My diagnosis came after one of their therapists gently nudged me toward seeking an autism assessment for myself.
My professional education spans interior and exterior design, antiques, organization, herbalism, and therapeutic art. This mostly means I pay attention to how environments and creativity affect how people feel. I’m a lifelong learner, always curious, and I love exploring how different ideas and practices support the nervous system in real, everyday life.
As an autistic adult, I share my experiences to build understanding, inclusion, & a sense of belonging for neurodivergent families like mine. Understanding autistic adults, including autistic parents, has the potential to make a positive difference. It changes how we support families, how we design programs, how we show up for the people we love.
My story is just one example, but it reflects what so many of us quietly live with every day. When we pay attention to real lived experience, we build communities that actually work for real people.
& that’s why I share all of this.
